Week 4

This week I had the opportunity to complete a lot of assignments that are required for my Genius Hour project. I was able to finish my movie trailer and I am quite proud of how it turned out as I have had no previous experience using iMovie. It took me quite a bit of time to figure out the program and how to complete the finished project. I was able to embed my trailer into my blog with no problems and I like the way that it looks on my blog.

I also spent some time adding my Genius Hour evaluation form to my blog and it is now embedded and ready to go. I was able to do some research on my topic and found out a lot about the history of ASL and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. I have provided a little bit of the information that I acquired from my research and included it in a Popplet for easy viewing and a visual representation of the questions that most people would ask when inquiring about ASL.

From here on out, I have to do one more blog post to meet the requirements for the project and lastly I will have to do my TED talk. Next class we will learn more about the TED talk and what is required from it. I am looking forward to learning about the expectations of the TED talk and how to complete it.

Genius Hour Evaluation Form

Reflection

This week for my Genius Hour project I spent a lot of time doing my in class work assignments like updating my blog, making a trailer and researching my topic. So far I believe that I want to study American Sign Language. ASL has been a language that has interested me for a few years now and I would love to learn more about the language and become more fluent.

I had a lot to trouble this week doing the online activities. We were expected to make a trailer for our Genius Hour project using iMovie, which I have never done before. I spent a lot of time on the internet searching how to use the program and how to make a trailer. I spent a lot of time frustrated as I have had no previous experience using this program and was going in with no support. I would have liked this part of the assignment to be done in class as it was not an easy thing for me to access.

I have my topic for my Genius Hour project but I am not sure where I am to take the project from here. I am looking forward to having an in-class session next week so that I can speak to my professor and hopefully gain some guidance on the assignment which I think will help me calm my nerves about the project.
